California Chrome continues to train 'like a monster' for June 7 Belmont

With clear blue skies and a bright morning sun beaming down for the first time since his arrival at Belmont Park earlier this week, Triple Crown candidate California Chrome "trained like a monster" this morning as he continued his preparations for the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes on June 7. "He just keeps getting stronger," said Alan Sherman, son of and assistant to trainer Art Sherman, after the chestnut colt galloped two miles around the track. Tips for First Timers

If you're new to the excitement of off track betting, what are you waiting for? It's easy and plenty of fun! The most important thing to remember is to choose your favorite horses before you bet. If you want to place multiple bets and different combinations (trifecta, to place, to win etc) write them down on a piece of paper so you'll have them at the ready when you place your bets.

Ready for the action? Here's how to bet:

  • Place your bets 15 minutes before the race to avoid any lines.
  • Always have your money and your list of bets ready before approaching the window.
  • Always check your ticket before leaving the window to be sure the bets are correct.
  • Order a drink, sit back and enjoy the race!
